The Karlovy Vary Region is the second smallest and has the smallest population of all the regions in the Czech Republic. However, thanks to its nature and to human intervention, an unusually high number of gorgeous natural attractions and historical monuments were created here.

One of the most noteworthy events and moments of each spa town is the opening of the spa season. The spas bless the wholesome springs and consecrate the healing waters so that they continue to bring health to the many thousands of people who travel to experience their effects each year. However, it is not only the spa towns that offer several music scenes, theatres, museums, and galleries, all which invite you to enjoy an unrepeatable cocktail of cultural experiences.
The world-renowned Karlovy Vary International Film Festival has a more than seventy-year-long tradition as a place where you can meet with a wide range of the most talented artists and stars of the global film industry each year. Besides them, talented jazz musicians, singers, and interpreters of classical music from around the world throng to the region throughout the year. Thanks to them, the entire region regularly comes alive with a busy cultural programme. The concerts of the Karlovy Vary and Western Bohemian Symphony Orchestras, some of the oldest orchestras in Europe, are sought-out.
Other popular events also include the Wallenstein Festivities and the FIJO International Brass Orchestras Festival in Cheb, Jazzfest, the Folklore Festival and Dvořák’s Autumn Festival, which all take place in Karlovy Vary, the Ota Hofmann Children’s Film Festival in Ostrov, the international fireworks festival in Sokolov, and the Chopin Festival and the Film Festival in Mariánské Lázně. The Loket Cultural Summer, which presents several concerts of popular interpreters in the venue of the outdoor amphitheatre situated under Loket Castle, is immensely popular, as is the Festival of Lights in Karlovy Vary, which creates an extraordinary audio-visual experience in several places around the town.
