Visit the geopark and discover its valuable mineral wealth.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>What exactly is a geopark?<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The relatively little-known term \u201cgeopark\u201d refers to a geologically valuable area that contributes to regional development and visitor education. In addition to rock formations, geological attractions, quarries, mines and caves, the site should also offer cultural, ecological and historical points of interest.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently eight geoparks in the Czech Republic. Besides Geopark Egeria, these include the \u017delezn\u00e9 hory Geopark, the GeoLoci National Geopark in the Tachov area, the Podbeskyd\u00ed Geopark, the Land of the Knights of Blan\u00edk in the Central Bohemian Region, the Ralsko Geopark near \u010cesk\u00e1 L\u00edpa, and, most recently, a geopark in the Vyso\u010dina Region.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The Most Interesting Mineral Sites in Geopark Egeria<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>It is precisely the geological and geomorphological attractions that draw visitors to Geopark Egeria. The forces of the Earth have created deep valleys, massive rock formations and mysterious peat bogs. The Kladsk\u00e1 and Bo\u017e\u00ed Dar Peat Bogs, the Svato\u0161 Rocks, the Smra\u010foch Nature Reserve, Kr\u00e1sn\u00fd vrch, And\u011blsk\u00e1 hora and many other places are certainly worth visiting.<\/p>\n<p>Since the Middle Ages, brown coal, ceramic raw materials, ores and precious metals have been mined at many locations across the Karlovy Vary Region. Many mining monuments are also preserved in an exceptionally good condition. If you are interested in the region\u2019s mining history, do not miss J\u00e1chymov, Horn\u00ed Slavkov, H\u0159ebe\u010dn\u00e1, Kr\u00e1sno, P\u0159ebuz or the Blatn\u00e1 Ditch. However, this is only a small selection \u2013 Geopark Egeria contains countless mining landmarks.<\/p>\n<p>Tertiary volcanism also had a major influence on the final form of the landscape. Volcanic vents created regular hills that were ideal for building defensive medieval castles. Look for traces of volcanic activity at And\u011blsk\u00e1 hora, Komorn\u00ed h\u016frka, Kr\u00e1sn\u00fd vrch or Vl\u010d\u00ed hora.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Mineral Springs and Palaeontological Finds<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Did you know that many minerals were first discovered in the Karlovy Vary Region? A number of local deposits rank among the richest in the world, especially J\u00e1chymov, where more than 320 minerals have been found and new ones continue to be identified. In addition to J\u00e1chymov, visit D\u0159enice, Horn\u00ed Slavkov, Kr\u00e1sno, Horn\u00ed Blatn\u00e1, P\u0159ebuz and Zlat\u00fd kopec.<\/p>\n<p>Mineral springs and spa towns are also important features of Geopark Egeria. In addition to Karlovy Vary, Franti\u0161kovy L\u00e1zn\u011b, Mari\u00e1nsk\u00e9 L\u00e1zn\u011b, J\u00e1chymov and L\u00e1zn\u011b Kyn\u017evart, mineral water and gas springs can be found at many natural sites.
