Ore mining in the Ore Mountains at the beginning of the 16th century was impossible without water.<\/strong><\/h3>\n

For this reason, mining companies from Horn\u00ed Blatn\u00e1 commissioned builder \u0160t\u011bp\u00e1n Lenko to construct a 12-kilometre water channel. It supplied water from the \u010cern\u00e1 River basin near Bo\u017e\u00ed Dar to mining and smelting operations in Horn\u00ed Blatn\u00e1. For its time, it was a unique technical work.<\/span><\/p>\n

The water channel winds along the ridges of the Ore Mountains at an altitude of 945\u2013975 metres, from the peat bogs near Bo\u017e\u00ed Dar through Ry\u017eovna and Bludn\u00e1, then turns above Horn\u00ed Blatn\u00e1 along the northern side of Blatn\u00e1 Hill. After its completion, mining developed rapidly not only around Horn\u00ed Blatn\u00e1, but throughout the entire area along the waterworks.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1980, the Blatn\u00e1 Ditch was declared a technical cultural monument. It later underwent a complete reconstruction, and an educational trail was built alongside it. The trail begins approximately 1.5 kilometres beyond Bo\u017e\u00ed Dar and ends near Horn\u00ed Blatn\u00e1.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
