The Karlovy Vary Region is a popular destination for canoeing and rafting. The Ohře River offers excellent conditions for paddlers. It rises in the Smrčiny Mountains in Germany under the name Eger. In the Czech Republic, you can enjoy more than 240 kilometres of the river. In its upper course, the Ohře is rather calm; the first rapids begin only before Loket, becoming more frequent through Karlovy Vary and continuing towards Kadaň in the Ústí Region, where the river calms again.
In addition to a wide range of campsites, camping grounds, water-sports equipment rentals and other essential services, the banks of the Ohře offer numerous landmarks, natural attractions and other popular tourist destinations. The most interesting stretch of the river begins near Sokolov. Here, the Ohře curves around Loket Castle and enters the Slavkov Forest Protected Landscape Area. A romantic section through the Svatoš Rocks awaits, as well as adrenaline in the rapids near the Hubertus campsite.
