One of the oldest castles in Bohemia, the Gothic-Renaissance Vildštejn in Skalná near Cheb, invites you into the depths of the Middle Ages and to follow the traces of the mysterious White Lady.
Its medieval banqueting hall will transport you several centuries back in time. You can also admire the royal hall with portraits of all Czech rulers, or the fire-fighting equipment museum with a flag of firefighters who died in the 11 September 2001 terrorist attack in the USA. The cellar contains a permanent exhibition about the castle’s history, as well as the remains of the walled-in White Lady, whose spirit is said to wander the castle corridors.
