Sokolov Castle is a Late Renaissance and Early Baroque château with a French-style château garden and a museum of mining and regional history.
In addition to touring the interiors, you can learn about the extraction and processing of ores and coal, porcelain production, or the making of lace and musical instruments. You can also see a model of a Neanderthal or a mammoth whose bones were discovered near the nearby Medard Lake in the 1930s. Since 2019, the castle’s cellar has been open to visitors, featuring the Sokolov Treasure from the 1990s.
