On the border of the mysterious Doupov Mountains lies the town of Valeč, home to a Baroque château with a truly remarkable history.
The originally Gothic castle served after the war as a sanatorium for veterans, in the 1950s as a refuge for Korean children, and until a fire in 1976 as a children’s home. The tour includes numerous interiors, including Braun Hall, the château garden with its historic greenhouse and the forge. You can follow the restored Baroque Way of the Cross up to Calvary Hill, where a beautiful view opens before you. Continue on via the Jinotaj lookout to the ruins of Neuhaus.
