Seeberg (Ostroh)

Hauenštejn – Horní hrad

Libá Château, reopened only in 2014, is located in the Cheb District, just a stone’s throw from the German border.

One of the oldest castles in Bohemia, the Gothic-Renaissance Vildštejn in Skalná near Cheb, invites you into the depths of the Middle Ages and along the trail of the mysterious White Lady.

1. The neo-Gothic Horní hrad, also known as Hauenštejn, has stood on a rock near Stráž nad Ohří since the 13th century and is currently being restored.

Châteaux

Kynžvart is a château full of stories, whose collection includes the alleged mace of Jan Žižka.

The Bečov nad Teplou château complex houses the Czech Republic’s second most precious monument after the Crown Jewels.

Chyše Château, dating from the 12th century, was made famous by Karel Čapek, who stayed here in 1917 and immortalised it in his masterpieces Krakatit and The Makropulos Affair.

On the edge of the mysterious Doupov Mountains lies the town of Valeč, home to a Baroque château with a truly remarkable history.

Sokolov is a late-Renaissance and early-Baroque château with a French-style garden and a museum of mining and regional history.
