A unique architectural jewel inspired by a Byzantine Old Russian church near Moscow was founded in 1893 in the then-emerging Westend exhibition villa district.

It was intended to replace an ageing prayer house, and its construction was funded by Serbian and spa guests, including the nobility. The building has the ground plan of a Greek cross, complemented by five gilded domes. In addition to its impressive exterior, it also captivates with interior decoration full of oil icons of saints set in an iconostasis originally made for the World’s Fair in Paris.
