The Karlovy Vary Region is renowned for its breathtaking nature, numerous remarkable heritage sites and, above all, its spa tradition. This small region is home to five renowned spa towns – Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně, Františkovy Lázně, Jáchymov and Lázně Kynžvart. Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně and Františkovy Lázně are also part of the Great Spa Towns of Europe, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

What makes the region’s spa tradition truly exceptional is the remarkable abundance and diversity of mineral springs and other natural healing resources. Their beneficial effects are backed by centuries of experience, expert medical knowledge and modern scientific methods.

The Karlovy Vary Region is remarkably diverse. For eight centuries, miners extracted precious minerals in the Ore Mountains, leaving behind a wealth of mining heritage sites. In 2019, the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Thanks to its natural and cultural riches, the Karlovy Vary Region has long attracted many notable figures, including Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The region has gained worldwide renown not only for its spas, but also for its traditional products. Prime examples include the creations of the world-famous Moser glassworks and the herbal liqueur Becherovka.
